Reviews

All Music Guide – Review – copyright

Taken from the final tour of the Quartet before their breakup, this LP is full of timeless performances. All six selections are worth mentioning: "Swanee River," a 12-minute version of "These Foolish Things," "Forty Days," "One Moment Worth Years," "La Paloma Azul" and "Three to Get Ready." Throughout these extended renditions, Brubeck and altoist Paul Desmond rekindle some of the magic from their concerts of the early '50s while also simultaneously showing just how far they had grown as musicians.
