Reviews

All Music Guide - Review – copyright

This double LP combines together Jazz Goes to College and Jazz Goes to Junior College, two of the Dave Brubeck Quartet's most rewarding classics. The former (which has been reissued on CD) has one of Paul Desmond's greatest solos on the blues "Balcony Rock" (every note during this melodic but searching improvisation fits) and particularly memorable performances of "Out of Nowhere," "The Song Is You" and "Don't Worry 'Bout Me." The latter set has the lengthy "Bru's Blues," a joyous "One Moment Worth Years" and an adventurous "These Foolish Things" among its highlights. "
